:: roll roll, roll your boat ::
sadly, by the time u read this, i will not be around. those who are thinkin the extreme (i.e : im dying), one word : CHOY! lolz.
will be sailing ya. and will be back only on friday. *siGhz* after so long, i still somewhat dread sailing ba. leavin home, loved ones, losing touch with current affairs, don't know whether is it a blessing or a curse that i don't have a gf when im posted to ship. still, its not totally that bad. one thing, can save money. for those sail-to-nowhere trips, not overseas trip where money flows out faster than a running tap, haha.
the camaraderie between the ship crew is one thing that u wont find on the other services? i mean havin to see the same people for a month and living together with them, in adverse sea and weather conditions, not to mention that the ship is not really that big, it kinda brings u closer to them. these are the people who wil fight and die together with u in war. so the dependence and trust must be there.
well, i dont mention my shipmates as colleagues to others. i mean, to me, to label someone as colleague means that u dont want to have anything to do with them after office hours? hee. well, its different that when u dont really like a person onboard, u cant really avoid them, unless u go jump overboard? lolz. its the same as any other workin enviroment, jus that some of the dynamics are slightly constrained? hee. so its either put up with them although they do irritate the hell out of u, or really make ur disdain clear to the person. the latter will make things ugly and workin together difficult, cos really, u might not know whether u need the guy or his dept help in future?
another thing about navy guys i've noticed. we are even more 38 then aunties, alot of gossip will fly around, something may happened overseas and it wont take long for those in singapore to get wind of the news. well, internally shipwise, gossiping is also quite rampant. although, its somewhat mean, esp to the unsuspecting or knowing victim, but these things, keep us entertained in way too? esp long trips. yesh yesh.. i know its bad. but hey, for all i know, i might be the victim also? but i SBC (simply bo chup) de. keke~
i get lotsa reactions when pple find out im in the navy. some of them are as follows :
1. so u guys go fishing when out at sea?
2. oh. u guys must like the sun, the sand and the sea.
3. so u're a diver?
4. navy guys... so must fall into the casanova/ flirtatious/ buaya breed
5. this is a new one, but its oh so cute: u catch those illegal immigrants who swim here? ^_^" [the police coast guard does that]
they may be more, but this is what i can think of now. well, common misconceptions ba. -.-" as a chinese proverb goes (can't think of the english equivalent now) : 不要用一个竹竿打凡整个船的人。[correct spelling?] loosely translated : don't use a bamboo to hit everyone overboard. lolz, doesn't make much sense in english i suppose? oh well~
although i can whine and complain to you how i loathe/detest/hate my job and i will be so glad to leave it next year. i also can tell you that its not easy leavin wat has been part of my life for 6 years. but i must go. as i've often tell people why i must leave, its i rather be jobless at 26 than 30. hee. also, really, its not what i want in my life too. i cant see myself doin that for the rest of my life. i got my dreams and i intend to work towards it also. (more on than some other day ba)
*yawnnnnZzz* am goin to bed now. see you guys when im back, prob friday. hopefully i'll see more responses when i back. some fan mail will do no harm. lolz. think hate mail or death threats are more likely? whatever. =b
ciaoz~
post scriptum (haha. i finally know what "p.s" stands for le) : yesh, i will miss you much de. ^_^ and you, you, you and lastly, you. lolz. before loggin off stil spouting lame/cold jokes. lolz.
